Permanent ironmaking and mining collection

During the walk through the exhibition you will get to know the world of iron making: from the ore to steel, from ancient times to the modern era. Ironmaking collection includes a presentation of models of blast furnaces, foundries, work of charcoal burners and Pantz ropeway. Reconstruction of a smithery with a smith’s hammer and other tools is also very interesting. Several objects, used by ironmakers are exhibited. Since 2008 the permanent collection has been complemented by an exhibition about the Savaironworkers – famous Europeans and since 2009 by an exhibition, set up on the 140th anniversary of the Carnioaln Industrial Company.  The collection includes also a model electric steel making plant. The history of ironmaking and mining and the influence of the Jesenice Ironworks on wider social life is presented by documentary films.

The Mansion has been housing Jože Bedič paleontological collection since 1993. The collection of rocks and fossils of protozoa, snails, shells, trilobites, bryozoans is the biggest and the most important collection of Palaeozoic fossils inSlovenia and one of the most impressive in South-Eastern Europe.
